About us

Orlando's repair shop on wheels

Orlando is built around the car. Neighborhoods spread out from Lake Nona to Winter Garden, almost everyone commutes, and a breakdown can mean a tow across three counties and a day without wheels. Orlando Mobile Mechanic takes the shop out of the equation by bringing the repair to you.

We work in driveways in College Park and Conway, apartment lots near UCF, office parks in Maitland and Lake Mary, and hotel and vacation-rental parking lots along International Drive and around Kissimmee. Your mechanic arrives in a stocked service vehicle with the tools, the scan equipment and usually the part already on board.

Every job starts with a quick phone call. Describe what the car is doing, and a mechanic will ask the right questions, explain what it most likely needs and quote the work before anything gets taken apart. If something else comes up once we're working, you hear about it and approve it first, so the bill never surprises you.

What we fix

Repairs we bring to your driveway

Most repairs that don't need a lift can be handled right where your car sits. These are the jobs Central Florida drivers call us for most.

  1. Brake repair

Brake pads, rotors, calipers and fluid flushes. Stop-and-go on I-4 and the 408 eats brakes, and brake fluid soaks up moisture in this humidity, so squeaks, grinding or a soft pedal deserve a look soon.

  2. Battery testing and replacement

Florida heat shortens battery life more than anything else. We load-test the battery and charging system and swap in a new battery on the spot if yours is on its way out.

  3. Starters and alternators

A click with no crank, a slow start or a battery warning light. We figure out whether it's the starter, the alternator or the wiring, then replace what actually failed.

  4. Check engine light diagnostics

We scan the codes, test the system behind them and tell you in plain English what's wrong, how urgent it is and what the fix costs.

  5. A/C repair and recharge

In Orlando, A/C is a necessity, not a comfort feature. We find leaks, test the compressor and condenser fan, and recharge the system properly so it blows cold again.

  6. Cooling system and overheating

Radiators, thermostats, water pumps, hoses and cooling fans. Summer heat, idling in theme-park traffic and lovebug-clogged radiators all add up to overheating.

  7. Oil changes and maintenance

Oil and filter changes, fluid checks, wiper blades and scheduled maintenance, done in your driveway or at work so the car never leaves your sight.

  8. Belts and hoses

Heat and humidity dry out rubber fast. We replace squealing belts and cracked or soft hoses before one lets go on the side of the Turnpike.

  9. Suspension and steering

Shocks, struts, tie rods, ball joints and control arms that take a beating from construction zones, potholes and speed bumps around town.

  10. No-start and electrical problems

Won't start, dies at lights or has warning lights flickering? Humidity and corrosion cause a lot of Florida electrical gremlins, and we track them down.

  11. Rideshare and delivery vehicles

High-mileage drivers can't afford a day off the road. We service brakes, batteries and maintenance between shifts, wherever you're parked.

  12. Pre-purchase and flood checks

Buying a used car? We inspect it before you pay, including for signs of flood damage, which matters a lot in Florida after a big hurricane season.

Your repair isn't on the list? Ask us. If it can be done safely on-site, we'll handle it.

How it works

Three easy steps

Car trouble shouldn't cost you a whole day in Orlando.

  1. Step 1

    Call and describe it

Call (407) 974-5978 and tell us the year, make and model and what you're noticing. We'll narrow down the likely cause and quote the job before booking.

  2. Step 2

Choose a spot and a time

Your driveway, your office, an apartment lot or your hotel all work if there's a safe, level place to park. Same-day visits are often open.

  3. Step 3

    We repair it on-site

Your mechanic shows up with the tools and parts, does the repair, shows you the old parts and tests the car with you before leaving.

Local know-how

What Orlando does to your car

Central Florida is easy on drivers and hard on cars. Here's what wears vehicles out around Orlando, and what to keep an eye on.

Heat that never takes a break

July afternoons average around 92°F, and the humidity makes it feel worse. Cars parked in the sun all day at work or the parks get baked, which shortens battery life, cracks rubber parts and pushes A/C systems to the limit.

Afternoon thunderstorms

From June through September, storms roll through almost every afternoon, and Orlando gets around 50 inches of rain a year. Standing water on roads makes worn tires hydroplane, and streaky wipers become a safety problem fast.

Lovebug season

Twice a year, in April and May and again in August and September, lovebugs swarm the highways. They clog radiator fins badly enough to make engines overheat, and left on the paint for a few days, they can pit the finish.

I-4 and tourist traffic

Even after the 21-mile I-4 Ultimate rebuild, traffic through downtown and the attractions corridor can crawl. All that braking and idling in the heat wears brakes and works cooling systems harder than open-road miles.

Hurricane season

From June 1 through November 30, a tropical storm can flood streets in an afternoon. Water in the intake, transmission or wiring causes problems that may not show up for weeks.

Beach trips, sand and salt

Cocoa Beach and Daytona are about an hour away, and every beach day brings sand and salt spray home on the undercarriage. Over time that speeds up rust on brake lines, exhaust parts and suspension hardware.

Hurricane season

Before and after a hurricane

Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, and being inland doesn't keep Orlando out of the way. In September 2022, Hurricane Ian dropped more than a foot of rain on Orlando International Airport in a single day, gave the city its wettest September on record and sent Lake Eola over its banks.

Before a storm, everyone's to-do list fills up and repair shops book out fast. Give us a day or two of notice and we'll test the battery, check the tires and spare, replace worn wipers, top off fluids and make sure the car is ready if you need to evacuate. And fill the tank early, before the gas lines start.

After a storm, be careful with any car that sat in water. If water got above the bottom of the doors or into the cabin, don't try to start it: water pulled into the engine can wreck it in seconds. Call us and we'll check the intake, fluids and electrical system where the car sits and tell you honestly what it's worth fixing.

Flood-damaged cars also get dried out and resold after big storms. If you're shopping for a used car, have it inspected for water damage first.

Car care calendar

An Orlando car-care calendar

Central Florida's seasons are subtle, but each one is tough on cars in its own way.

  1. March to May

    Spring

The first lovebug flight of the year and plenty of pollen. Rinse bugs off quickly, check the radiator for clogging and swap the cabin air filter.

  2. June to August

    Summer

Heat, daily storms and the start of hurricane season. Test the battery, replace streaky wipers and check tire tread before the afternoon downpours.

  3. September to November

    Fall

Peak hurricane season and the second lovebug flight. Keep the tank above half and get any nagging repairs done before a storm is in the forecast.

  4. December to February

    Winter

Mild, dry and the best time of year for maintenance. A battery weakened by summer sometimes quits on the first chilly morning, so test it early.

FAQ

Questions Orlando drivers ask

Quick answers to what people ask us most. Still wondering about something? Just call.

Call (407) 974-5978

Can you come to my hotel or vacation rental?

Yes. If you're visiting and your own car breaks down, we can usually meet you in the hotel or rental's parking area. If it's a rental car, call the rental company first, since most want you to use their roadside service.

Do you cover Kissimmee, Sanford and Winter Park?

Yes. We work across Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties, including Kissimmee, St. Cloud, Sanford, Lake Mary, Winter Park, Oviedo and Winter Garden. Share your address and we'll tell you how soon we can get there.

Does Florida require a vehicle inspection?

Not for most personal cars. Florida dropped emissions testing in 2000 and doesn't require routine safety inspections, so no one checks your brakes, tires or lights unless you do. A yearly once-over is worth it in this heat.

Do you work on rideshare and delivery cars?

All the time. We can do brakes, batteries, oil changes and other maintenance between shifts, wherever you're parked, so you lose as little driving time as possible.

Can you check my car after a hurricane or flooding?

Yes. If the car sat in deep water, don't start it. We'll check the intake, oil, transmission fluid and electrical system on-site and tell you honestly what's worth repairing.

How soon can you get to me?

We often have same-day openings, especially for morning calls. It depends on the repair, whether we need to pick up parts and where in Central Florida you are.

How much does a mobile mechanic cost in Orlando?

Pricing depends on your car and the repair. We quote it on the phone before the visit, and you save the cost of a tow. Anything extra we find gets explained and approved by you first.

Do you work in the heat and the afternoon storms?

Yes, year-round. In summer we try to schedule outdoor work earlier in the day, and if a thunderstorm rolls in we'll wait it out or move under cover so the job is done safely.

What repairs can't you do on-site?

Anything that needs a lift or heavy shop equipment, such as a transmission rebuild, major engine work or frame repair. If your car needs that, we'll say so and help you find the right shop.

What are your hours?

Seven days a week, from 7am to 7pm. Call (407) 974-5978 to set up a visit.
